Description:
Born, raised, and educated as a banker in Switzerland, André emigrated to Canada at the age of 21. André found his “niche” when he was hired in 1970 as secretary-treasurer for the Hamlet of Fort Simpson, Northwest Territories. For the next 35 years his career was dedicated to local government administration in small communities in the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, and British Columbia’s Kootenays. As an adjunct to his career, André participated in a CIDA-funded program working with rural district councils in Zimbabwe from 1990 to 2000. Originally starting in Paris, France, (1992) with Marc Sautet, Pascal Hardy, and several friends who got together discussing various issues of the day at the now famous Cafe des Phares at the Place de la Bastille.

The David Thompson Library is a collection of some seventy thousand volumes put together since 1950 by Notre Dame University(NDU), David Thompson University Centre(DTUC) and the Nelson University Centre Education Society(NUCES). Its purpose was originally to support post-secondary education in the form of degree programs at NDU. It also supported degree and other programs for DTUC and NUCES.
