The show starts with a conversation of host Sjeng Derkx with Seth Klein, who is the BC director of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. The discussion is about the recently adopted Federal and Provincial budgets and Seth explains how the lack of poverty reduction measures in both budgets does not only have negative social consequences but also reduces the effectiveness of economic stimulus measures.
Next Sjeng plays a recording of the presentation in Nelson by BC Citizens' Assembly member Gladys Brown. Gladys describes her personal experience as a member of the randomly chosen group of BC citizens, who after intensive study and discussion chose the BC Single Transferrable Voting system, which will again be put before BC citizens on a referendum May 12.
The show ends with the first in a series called 'Looking through a Different Window', in which producer Glyn Humphries has a conversation with long time and actively involved Nelson citizen Jim Bartels.
