If you voted in the last Provincial Election in 2005, you were given the opportunity to choose between the way we choose our MLAs now, commonly known as First Past the Post, or a system of proportional representation known as the Single Transferable Vote.
In 2005, 57.69% of those who voted in that referendum voted for STV.
If the same rules applied to that referendum as applied to the rest of that election, the next Provincial election, coming up in May, would be using STV.
But the Liberal Government decreed that STV had to pass with nothing less than 60% of the overall vote and a simple majority in 60% of the ridings.
In May, STV will again be presented to the electorate in a referendum.
On Wednesday, Ann Remnant, Sjeng Derkx, Gusti Calis and Lisa Bramson, all members of Fair Vote BC, the organization behind the Yes STV campaign, got together to talk about the Single Transferable Voting system.

On Tuesday, the Barak Obama took the oath of office and became the 44th president of the United States of America, the first African-American to hold that office.
Somewhere between one and a half and two million people stood on the Mall in Washington to witness the event in person while millions more around the world watched it on television.
To talk about that historic event, and what the future might hold, host Stephen Fowler spoke with Llysa Holland, a theatre artist living in Seattle and working around the world. She is a co-founder of theater simple, which has built a solid international reputation for producing provocative, literate, subversive, entertaining and original theatrical experiences.
